Preserving Star Wars History with ColdFusion

originaltrilogy.com could prove to be one of the most important websites of our time, and I'm proud to say it's powered by ColdFusion. The purpose of the site, in their own words:

"George Lucas doesn't plan on releasing the original theatrical cuts of the first Star Wars trilogy on DVD -- or any other home video format for that matter. They're gone forever. The point of the petition is to try and change his mind."

ColdFusion and Star Wars: an unbeatable combination, and a noble cause.

I think they're wanting the "original theatrical cuts" as opposed to the touched up copies of the originals. Remember that Lucas came back and touched everything up, added scenes / special effects, things he felt that *should* be there, etc.

*shrugs*...

Us Star Wars fans are a weird breed. :)

You know, as a Star Wars fan and a ColdFusion developer, I go back and forth on this one, but at the end of the day, I think Geroge should be able to hack the OT as much as he wants.

If I could go back and make some changes to some code I wrote last year to make it better, I would definitely do it. Taking the metaphor a bit further, if the Star Wars fan base is my client and my clients are signing a petition for me not to mess with it, I would listen to them.

Whatever.

I consider myself a SW nut, but at the end of the day, if Lucas wants to change his creation, he has that write. I think he _should_ release both the modified and the original (and hey, I actually like the modified versions, except the Greedo scene), but as the content owner, he has the right to do what he wants.

I think the Original Theatrical version will be there anyway! Like the Lion King Special Edition, if you go to directors commentry and change the audio track it the Original film :o)
So maybe George will hide the Original Trilogy somewhere!
