Malik on SWF cams
Malik on SWF cams: My thanks to those who posted accurate info in response to Om Malik's under-researched promotion of an email he received about "Hey, what's that webcam control in the Macromedia Flash Player!?" Recap: You can explicitly consent to doing two-way realtime voice/audio communications with the Macromedia Flash Player -- default state is no access. This has been possible for... hmm... just over three years now... the only problem I've seen with it has been a similarly under-researched A-lister scare in December 2002... if there are any remaining questions or hypotheticals then I'd be glad to take 'em in comments here, thanks. Anyway, my appreciation goes out to those who helped better the message for that big megaphone there.... ;-)

Here is an excellent use of Flash on MSNBC. The use of video of the space shuttle from various angles from yesterdays launch. I work for a contractor to the space shuttle, so this 'real' cool for me.
