Invisibility cloak
Invisibility cloak: HowStuffWorks.com offers photos of the lab tests which I hadn't seen before... the photo on the first page is my favorite, it looks good. You can check the diagram to see how the camera needs to be placed. Later pages talk about research to bypass these positioning and view-dependence requirements. I got the link from Mark Castle on a Director list, who warned "Just letting everyone know that I'll be able to sneak into the girls bathroom soon", which prompted Alex Zavatone to reply "Don't forget to lift every seat." (Zav's page is 404 for me now, which, if you know either of us, shouldn't seem so unusual.... ;-)

Not as cool, but another handy use of this technology is to instantly grab nearly perfect keys when attempting to composite video (greenscreen, etc). A camera is fit with a ring that contains some bright green LEDs that cause a perfect perfect green to be reflected back through the camera's lens.
We've used this at work before and I have to say, for indoor conditions with controllable ambient light, it works like magic. If you've ever had to pull a key before, it'll make your jaw drop first time you see it done...
