MXNA launch highlights
MXNA launch highlights: So I've been paging back through the last dozen hours on MXNA, opening each post that mentions the Studio 8 launch... here, in chronological order, are some of the ones that caught my eye with new or novel material... I know I'm missing stuff, but here's a quick recap across the bulk of weblog commentary....
Sean Corfield caught one of the first site changes, when the Macromedia Store pushed new order forms live.
Justin Everett-Church focused on the package art, which I also like.
Zeh Fernando got into the low-calorie labeling early: "Surprisingly, the new IDE isn’t called Flash MX 2005 - my personal bet - neither Flash MX 2, but actually Flash 8. To tell the truth, I thank Macromedia for this decision..." (Lots of folks followed Zeh on this observation as the day wore on.)
Waldo Smeets posted info about in-person sessions in Belgium and The Netherlands... more sessions, for more locales, are listed at Macromedia Events.
Justin Everett-Church examines some of the Flash mobile features.
Robert Hoekman Jr. puts the browser/plugin user-experience to the test, including browser-detection and installation options.
Greg Rewis has apparently held off on blogging, for years now, just waiting until he could talk about Studio 8.... ;-) (If you hit the tradeshows, then Greg is the Macromedian most likely to be doing the floor show.)
Neil Straghalis is talking about the changes to the Macromedia website and store.
Mike Krisher will be focusing on the new Flash mobile abilities.
Danny Patterson notes a "A Programmer's Look at Flash 8" article at CommunityMX... Scott Fegette already listed new articles at DevNet. FlashMagazine has a whole bunch of info too. (Lots of stuff at FlashMagazine, good details.)
Tinic Uro discusses some of the bitmap improvements in the new Player.
Franto had a long list of SWF examples from people doping out the new Player's abilities -- now he has started a parallel list of examples from people in the beta program. Wild stuff here, on both lists. I can't keep up! ;-)
MXNA has a new smart category for Studio.
Josh Buhler writes of the Studio interactive video on the Macromedia site.
Scott Fegette starts the first of several daily tips on new tools.
Grant Skinner will be posting many Flash 8 resources on his weblog, and offers a garden generator today.
Justin Everett-Church posted that spaceship demo others have wanted to see, where pressing the spacebar does a Perlin-esque cloaking into invisiblity.
Macromedia Technotes advise that the new Player is just too dang powerful for Win95, WinNT, or classic Mac. :(
Colin Moock wrote about the new Express Install option. (Robert Hoekman has an example.)
(This didn't hit the aggregator, but was in my comments on another post... Rich Shupe has a long article at DevX, specifically on Player features.
