Open Letter
Open Letter: To the editors at The Register -- I generally enjoy the work of your reporter Andrew Orlowski, despite (or perhaps because of) the dramatic way in which he paints up stories. However, use of the anonymously-sourced email snippet which Orlowski credits to Microsoft staffer Robert Scoble is ethically wrong for multiple reasons, not the least of which is that the purported writer himself states: "That email was fabricated and was not what I wrote in any email to anyone." (Click "comments" to read.) I'd like to see this situation corrected as soon as possible -- at minimum I would have expected an addition to Andrew's article stating that the anonymously-sourced attribution was in dispute -- I would like to regain trust in what I read in The Register. Thank you for your consideration of this.
