Most influential medium?
Most influential medium? Jeff Jarvis notes that a clip of Jon Stewart on CNN received 150,000 viewers in broadcast, but over three million viewers as a clip on the net. This is similar to a point from Chris Lynch earlier this week, that Sunday morning political-talk shows actually have more exposure through weblogs than broadcast. Broadcast can get a lot of info to a large audience immediately, but the synchronous nature of broadcast makes it difficult to use something at arbitrary times, like the web offers. Both media channels seem necessary to me. (Obligatory promotional item: By these numbers, fewer people watch George Stephanopolous each week than download Macromedia Flash Player 8 each day, although televisions are still more prevalent than computers.)

I don't know totals myself, sorry... I'm hoping we can get some new type of display up on the site to graphically show the adoption rate of the new Maelstrom-era Player, but I don't have that info yet personally.
It's lots more than ever before, that's all I know so far.
