Apple, Adobe notes
Apple, Adobe notes: This is a stub entry -- I'll be adding notes throughout the day, and if you see good resources then I'd appreciate a comment here with the link, thanks. Already on the lists I'm seeing "When will applications run on the new hardware?" I don't think there's a real answer yet, whether for porting or emulation, but I'd like to tie together the current info into this single entry, thanks. (The link above goes to a MacWorld keynote report which describes how Apple's pro apps will be available with a slight upgrade price later this year.)

At Engadget: "1:24 PM - Photoshop demo 'The Performance of Photoshop in Rosetta isn't going to be powerful enough for a professional ... it's fast enough for those of us who use it occasionally.' He does some compositing on King Kong stills." (I think the quote is from Steve Jobs, but I'm not sure.)

"When will applications run on the new hardware?"
Another question might be will newer (mainly Apple) apps run on PowerPC-based hardware? I would hope that, after new year's MacWorld, iLife '07 would run on my current PowerBook.
I'd love to see PowerPC to Intel upgrades available.

Eric Dolecki has questions about plugin performance.
(Me, I'm not sure yet about which browsers work on the new boxes, and their plugin architecture... I'm assuming the Rosetta emulation, but will log this one to research, thanks.)

Dev kits have been out last summer. An FP8 dot update could take care of this, I can't imagine it would be the most difficult task.
If Flash 8.5 truly exists (as an update to add AS3), I don't see why it shouldn't be Universal, there's been enough time.
I like the idea of a Crossgrade, like Apple's offering for their pro software. I'd be willing to sink $50 into Studio 8 for performance.

Additional resource: CNET interviews Bruce Chizen on timetables for Intel/Mac ports. This took place last year, but contains the best overall guidance I've seen so far... most ports will be done against a full version, rather than porting something which is already halfway through its time on the market.
