FlashCast response

FlashCast response: Another press release, about the faster-than-expected adoption of FlashCast publishing services by consumers in Japan: "'We have been astonished by the unprecedented success of i-channel, which proves that consumers embrace data services when they are automatically delivered and presented in a compelling and interactive way,' said Takeshi Natsuno, senior vice president at NTT DoCoMo." (FlashLite is a set of libraries, a Player baked into the phones -- FlashCast is a publishing service built atop this, with personal rich-media "channels" of content, pushed to the phone for instant access.) Trying to learn the full capabilities of a phone is hard these days, frustrating operators who hope to sell more data services now that voice revenue is plateauing -- the FlashCast approach serves both needs, both audiences and operators, and is being adopted more explosively than anticipated.
