Opera mobile stats

Opera mobile stats: Opera reports two million downloads of Opera Mini browsers (I'm guessing that's from Aug05-Mar06, and I'm not sure if these are unique users), and that Opera is preprocessing four million webpages a day for its mobile browser. If you're interested in mobile business incentives, check out how the second paragraph talks about data volume and ARPU ("average revenue per user") -- carriers are trying to enhance slow-growing voice revenues with new data services, turning a mobile from a telephone into a full communications device. But consumers don't spend a lot of time trying to figure out a mobile's features, so the interface becomes more and more important. The incentives are there for consumers, carriers, and manufacturers to all want richer, smarter interfaces on the devices they use.
