Yahoo analyst day
Yahoo analyst day: The presentation is a 188-page PDF... in the extended entry are page-numbered notes I took while paging through... no real highlights for me, save for shared themes such as "more engaging user experiences", emphasis on decentralized video and other rich media, and mention of beyond-the-browser work (in their case, mostly mobile).
p15: Big trends of the past five years: graphical advertising, search, broadband partnerships, deeper product focus (?)
p16: Big trends for the next five years: next generation experience, monetization, platforms, beyond the browser.
p59: 2006 Priorities: Create Superior User Experience: Build Robust Platforms: aggregation system, ad simplification, inline video player, media publishing.
p61: Maximize user generated content.
p75: Screenshot of new Yahoo Finance, expected this month... the feature page says it will download the latest Java runtime for you, if you are in a supported browser, and do not use a Macintosh or Linux machine.
p82: Chart comparing "social search" advantages among Yahoo, Google, MSN, others.
p134: Presentation by China partner Alibaba.
p167: The nature of usage explodes once the audience size gets above 60% of the population... they're talking here about internet use in general, I'm thinking of Flash Player adoption rates.
p168: An emphasis on "engagement", of getting audience members to really, really respond to what you're doing.

The way they kept talking about "Platform" are they coming up with their own Flash Player, WPF/E runtime.....or does it mean they're going to do alot more stuff using the JRE?
