Semi-offline
Semi-offline: For those interested in such things, I have internet access, but do not have access to email and similar similar functions. (Friday afternoon I started sneezing at the office and so left for home, but now I'm having difficulty negotiating the new VPN system.) If you came by my blog looking for comments on Microsoft's story today, then I don't know enough to usefully comment about it. And if you notice any typos in the above paragraph, then you'll know that the cold medicine is starting to kick in here.... ;-)

Funny, that's exactly why I came by ;)
Anyway, get better...
[jd sez: Thanks for checking, though. :) ]

JD, please post about the Adobe side of the story, as soon as possible.
Currently, it seems Adobe is an evil company compared to Microsoft - and MS is already considered pretty evil by some.
If Adobe is doing as stated in the news, that's bad. If Adobe has good reasons but isn't able to make them public (thus accepting the evil role), that's bad too.
Silence is not helping Adobe, and openness of the SWF format is in debate...
Hope you are well now.
Best regards,
Burak

Thanks, Burak. I hear you on the "other side of the story" angle... I don't know anything else about it myself... I wasn't at those top-secret cross-company executive meetings which were said to have occurred. I don't know.
But when there's a free conversation on this, I promise to study up and try to understand it as well as I can, and work towards making that source information available for anyone.
... whoops! while typing this I happened to check another news feed, and saw that Investor's Business Daily is running a report on a speech from Bruce Chizen. I just put this up as a top-line item in this blog.
