EDL mashups
EDL mashups: Interesting twist. Startup Cuts doesn't share video, but instead shares Edit Decision Lists for DVDs or other video assets you already own. Result: Customized presentations. (An Edit Decision List is a text list of which part of which video capture is used when... I have no idea of the format Cuts uses, but the concept is the same as an EDL.) They have examples of cutting scary scenes out of movies for kids, doing an all-Teri version of "Desperate Housewives", more. Commercial copyright does not cover this -- people have already bought those video assets, and are just watching them in a different way. The concept seems rich, particularly when you can combine with casual video (not just pro video), when you could add audio, text, overlays, interactivity onto other content....
