World Usability Day

World Usability Day: It's not about using the world better, it's about better usability in the world. Occurs next Tuesday, November 14. "World Usability Day promotes the value of usability engineering, user-centered design, and every user's right to ask for things that work better." The charter goes into more depth, with the strong assertion "Human error is a misnomer," and the "healthcare is a right" meme. But -- if everyone's a creator, and so carries responsibility to others for usability -- then why do so many people not signal their intentions at traffic intersections? There seems to be a subtext here that certain people have obligations to certain groups, and that it's not a reciprocal arrangement. Whatever, it seems an opportunity for usability pransketerism next Tuesday.... ;-)
