Video comments
Video comments: Pete Cashmore describes the new Flikzor service as "a widget that allows you to accept video comments on MySpace, Friendster, Piczo, hi5, Xanga and your blog." I've got three observations: (1) There's an increasing trend now towards interactive and two-way video... static linear broadcast models will still remain very popular, but the new video handlings have a faster growth curve; (2) There will be arguments over whether richer comments are useful... I think the big value will likely be for smaller groups, where you're not scanning for info so much as really trying to understand how the speaker feels about something; (3) The Flikzor support page doesn't even mention Adobe Flash Player... it's part of the accepted, invisible infrastructure now (although I think it would be good to guide the rare 64-bit Linux or low-end webphone visitor who may arrive, though).

Flash Player 9 works fine on 64bit Linux.
[jd sez: I saw pushback when linking to NSPluginWrapper earlier, but I didn't go out to research consensus in 64-bit Linux discussion areas... I'd expect any wrapper to work, but the environments apparently vary too much for even *that*...!?]

This thread seems to indicate that this approach works fine on Ubuntu. So far I haven't heard anyone complain that this method doesn't work with the most recent versions of Flash Player 9 and nspluginwrapper.
