"The humble minivan"

"The humble minivan": I'm 'way behind on everything today, but this article may have slipped beneath your radar... it discusses recent Adobe acquisitions from a business & technology standpoint. The lede gave me a chuckle: "In the software world, if Oracle Corp. is the monster truck of corporate acquirers, showily flattening competitors as flash pots explode, Adobe Systems Inc. is the humble minivan, patiently trundling from point A to point B." One of the emphases of this article is how technology expertise is being added to Adobe for broad enabling moves, rather than just for market-widening reasons. I think there may be a couple of ways to put the pieces together. Another article with similar perspective talks about business-intelligence applications... I like this line: "Going forward, the Gartner trio predicts, Adobe will promiscuously embed collaboration features across its product lines." (Well, I don't like that phrase "going forward", because I start wondering if you can go backwards in time, or sideways in time, but "promiscuously embedding collaboration features" is such an evocative phrase.... ;-)
