Downey on Apollo
Downey on Apollo: Hey, didja hear that an early version of Apollo went live on Labs last night...? ;-) There's a lot of conversation about it now, but Kevin Schmitt's interview with Mike Downey may have flown past you in the aggregators. It's a valuable resource -- has the elevator pitch, the PDF Q&A, the early audience metrics on greater engagement with notifications, key differences from clientside Java, the new JS/AS integration, the insulation from direct DLL access (although see use of local proxy), the current windowing capability (more), and a view of where we are right now on the 1.0 development path. Some of the early conversations on Techmeme may base opinions on incorrect assumptions, so the above interview, along with updates from Chambers and Downey, are good links when you're talking with others on the subject.
