Lower-priced imaging

Lower-priced imaging: At ZDNet, Paul Monckton notes that purchasing a standalone Adobe Photoshop CS3 or Photoshop Extended would not be economically appropriate for every person with imaging needs. He then discusses either using theft or GIMP. Additional alternatives include combining your imaging needs with other software in a Suite bundle... using Adobe Photoshop Elements for common imaging tasks... examining Fauxto, Picnik, or other online editors, including upcoming work from Adobe. Paul then does an in-depth comparison of factors to consider when choosing GIMP (256 values per color channel, colorspace support, usage and interface differences). The authentic Adobe Photoshop software has the world's greatest concentration of engineering investment, but one size definitely doesn't fit all, so there's a variety of solutions to imaging needs today.
