Disorganizing information

Disorganizing information: If you're about to install a stranger's executable code, then it's good to know what others think of it. Unfortunately, undiscriminating advertising networks can make this task harder than it should be. Andy Brice is an indy developer who submitted a fake app to large numbers of online software rating services, and learned: "The truth is that many download sites are just electronic dung heaps, using fake awards, dubious SEO and content misappropriated from PAD files in a pathetic attempt to make a few dollars from Google Adwords." Comments concur... sample: "Excellent work. I've been wishing for a way to make all such sites disappear from Google search results. In addition to being cheesebag linkwhores as you demonstrate, they also make it much harder to find actual developers' sites when all you have is the name of an app." I'd like to see Google exercise more discretion when choosing partners with whom to share advertisers' money. Try clicking some links in Google Blogsearch on "adobe" to see how the lack of discrimination encourages noise to override the signal.
