MAX soapbox
MAX soapbox: Whew. I got eight hours sleep last night, but I'm still a little dazzle-eyed, and don't trust myself to cull through the past week's weblog commentary to draw representative feedback. Got comments, wishlists, peeves or raves? Drop 'em here, please, and I'll forward this address to other Adobe staffers. No topic is out-of-bounds, although I'll request that lengthy comments go elsewhere, in hopes of getting each staffer to read through all feedback on this page. What do you think Adobe should know about the North America event this year, as you saw it through your own experience? Thanks in advance for the word!

That is a really cool AIR app and know of plenty of times where something like that would be extremely useful in the workplace.

I thought this year's conference was great, but I did hear some griping from some creative types (nothing specific, mind you, but I am certain that others will have feedback). I did not attend a single session that I found to be dull or mistakenly titled. Most sessions were heads and shoulders above the level experienced at, say, the New Orleans MAX a few years back.
I will mention that I disliked being shut out of the "Flex Best Practices" session due to the room filling before I got there. I don't want door Nazis checking my ID and slowing my progress, but I also don't get the whole signing up for a session if it doesn't guarantee my seat.
As always, it was good to see you.

Word on the street (from MAX) is that Flex has been split into two versions, the lesser version costs 250 (Yay!) that charting has been rolled into a pro version and has more cool charts (Yay!) and that there is an 89$ price protection plan that you can buy against the introduction of Flex 3 (Yay!) in case the price goes up (Boo!).
They seemed to know a little bit about that at the 888 number enterprise sales, but the website has not been updated by Adobe.
Does this fit the bill for "no topic is out of bounds?" Cheers! (Yay!)
[jd sez: Fits. ;-) But for an answer the Flex staffers' blogs would be better right now.]

I really liked it that the Flex team wore T-shirts with their logo and the words "Flex team" on them. So if you saw someone wearing that shirt you could assume they knew a lot about Flex and could ask them a question or just strike up a conversation with them.
I think it would be a great idea of other teams wore clothing that clearly identified what product they worked on. Sort of like the new icon set for CS3.
Of course, JD, you get a color all to yourself. :-)

I'd say cut down on the amount of sessions running at the same time. There is such a thing as too much choice, 8 to 10 options would be ideal rather than double or triple that.
Synchronize start and end times. Some would start on the hour some quarter past, makes it difficult to mix and match sessions you want to attend with only a 15 minute break.
We got a nice conference bag but swag was a bit disappointing, also those flyers I'm sure get tossed out right away. Might be worth having a workbook like you see with Flashforward and putting sponsor ads in there.
