Dual browsers
Dual browsers: A good security tip. Keep a few different browser brands installed on your system, and reserve one of them for operations you perform on trusted sites (banking, finance, etc). Use a different browser brand when you visit the sites of strangers.

If you're going to do that, you might as well keep your "secure" browser on a thumb drive. I recommend portable Firefox. http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

What I do is this: I use Virtual PC, and use a different virtual machine for secure browsing and a different virtual machine for regular browsing. I also use undo disks so when I shut down, the PC's disks are reset. I do lose history and cookies but I normally erase them for security when closing the browser (Firefox) anyway.

For 'secure' browsing I use a separate machine that has all the keys on the keyboard rearranged in a reverse-dvorak style. The machine is also contained in a metal safe suspended in a tank of water.
