Apple Final Cut Server
Apple Final Cut Server: It's a video server, but seems closer to Adobe Version Cue than to the different versions of Flash Media Server... Apple's video server is more for workgroups than for audiences: "A scaleable server application, Final Cut Server automatically catalogs large collections of assets, allows searching across multiple disks and SAN volumes and enables viewing, annotation and approval of content from anywhere using a PC or Mac... Final Cut Server automatically catalogs media and generates thumbnails, poster frames and low-resolution clip proxies for quick browsing in user specified formats. A cross-platform client enables a PC or Mac to use Final Cut Server's broad search capabilities, which extend from simple keywords to complex combinations of IPTC, XMP and XML metadata. Final Cut Server also configures a range of highly specific access controls that define user permissions on an asset or project basis." Looks like Apple's compressor supports H.264 for delivery to Adobe Flash Player, but no interactivity or two-way video or load-balancing or such... it's less a delivery server than a collaboration server.

I love it! It's awesome. Everybody should buy it: home users, office users, large corporations - everybody!
