Amazing... New IKEA site is just mind-blowingly cool.

This has got to be one of the most impressive creative effects done with Flash that I have ever seen. Wow... I mean, wow...

This isn't new. I saw this a while ago at k10k.net.

The website was posted on all big design portals about six month ago and was posted by almost everyone on Wellvetted.com.

Very impressive indeed but it isn't an effect done with flash. Flash is the container for a pre-rendered movie done in a studio and using 3D-software.

Hi -

First, who cares if this was reported 6 mos ago? It is still very cool (and I just heard about it).

Second, it *is* an effect done with Flash. Sure, the photography, imaging, stitching, etc were done w/ some other app(s), but the display, delivery, and interactivity are all delivered via Flash. This is the case for most Flash content - there are always assets that have been worked on in other programs.

Thanks,
MD

It's a nice effect indeed .. "Bullet Time" from the matrix .. ;)

The main swf is 8.5MB big though, and the framerate of my 800mhz G4 went down to one frame every couple of seconds. Though very cool, this kind of movies can only be used as optional gimmicks, not as serious content.

I like the idea alot but is it really bullet time photography or just a neat flash trick, and if so how? Either way very cool also whay other apps do you think they used to make these photos Mike? I also dig the two toast popping up outta the toaster.
